Rui Hachimura x Air Jordan 8 SE Sneaker Pays Homage To His Japanese Roots

Rui Hachimura is regarded as one of the finest basketball players of the contemporary era, despite the fact that he has yet to appear in an NBA game. Following his collaboration with Jordan Brand earlier this year for his own Air Jordan 36 colorway, the Washington Wizards power forward is now hooking up with the Michael Jordan-helmed label for the Rui Hachimura x Air Jordan 8 SE, and we're getting our first look!

Hachimura, who was born in 1998 to a Beninese father and a Japanese mother, pays homage to his Japanese ancestry with his take on the Air Jordan 8. The upper is made of silky soft suede and has quality leather straps that go across the upper in an earthy "Twine" colorway. Black elements offer a flash of contrast to the sneaker, while Hachimura's unique insignia replaces the original Jumpman badge on the tongue.

The ankle area of the shoe features Japanese-inspired design, while the midsole is a similar beige Nike Air. All of this comes in a limited-edition box with ukiyoe-style drawings on the front. Rui's Japanese name appears in the top left corner, along with a shogun symbol in the bottom left.

We don't know when the Rui Hachimura x Nike Air Jordan 8 SE "Twine" will be released, so stay tuned for updates as they become available!
