New Balance Brings Back The 990v2 In A Classic Grey Colorway

Look to the GR New Balance 990v2 for sneakerheads who missed out on the ‘Version 2' launch earlier this year, or simply those who aren't bothered by limited editions and just want a good sneaker. It's just arrived in its original grey splendor, and it's every bit as luscious as it was back in 1998.

The 990v2 is significant for several reasons. To begin with, it was a follow-up to the original 990, which was launched 16 years before in 1982. After such a long period, New Balance made sure to include the most up-to-date running technology in their flagship shoe. As a result, the v2 brought innovative ABZORB technology to the 990 series, which can still be seen in the visible heel window today.

The midsole was also dual-density, which was carried over to the most recent NB runners. The upper has an elaborate pigskin suede and mesh mix, as well as extra reflective elements on the midfoot N logo, which is a dramatic change from the original 990 upper.

The sole difference between the GR and the aforementioned ‘Version 2' is that the latter includes some additional red stitching and a red tab. If those nuances don't matter to you, you can get the 990v2 in OG grey right now at New Balance.
