Travis Scott is without a doubt the king of sneakers in 2021. After releasing two highly anticipated Air Jordan 1s earlier this month, Travis Scott is back with not one, not two, but five Air Max 1s - and we've got the finest look yet at the Travis Scott x Nike Air Max 1 "Wheat"! While this cooperation has been marred by criticism, particularly because of a particular aspect of the AM1, there's no denying that anticipation for them is growing!
La Flame's version of the famous design is as premium as it gets, with a bright all-yellow color scheme that reminds us of the "Lemonade." Premium leather panels wrap around the whole shoe, working on top of a ballistic mesh foundation for a luxurious look that is sure to turn heads.
Dark teal hues descend upon the thick rope laces and ribbon eyelets - the latter of which extends all the way to the back to act as a pull tab, just like on the Travis Scott x Air Jordan 1 High "Dark Mocha" from 2019, and the lateral Nike Swoosh has been inverted, just like on the Travis Scott x Air Jordan 1 High "Dark Mocha" from 2019. A new rubber "CJ" logo is sewn on the tongue as a tribute to "Cactus Jack," while little flags are placed on the heel for a Boy Scouts feel.
The blacked out Air bubble, which is one of the Air Max 1's defining qualities, is the contentious element here, as noted in the introduction. This has been colored in a complimentary yellow shade that is unlike anything else we've seen. To finish it off, the black rubber outsole is emblazoned with "CACTUS CORPORATION" and features the same design as the Travis Scott x Nike SB Dunk Low from last year's inner layer.
The Travis Scott x Nike Air Max 1 "Wheat" will be released alongside four additional colorways including "Baroque Brown," "Grey Haze," "Off Noir," and "Saturn Gold" before the end of the year.
