Air Jordan Jumpman 2020

Traction: 

The Jumpman 2020 is made up of primarily conventional herringbone. Due to the structure of the pattern, even though it guides from front to back, there is still multidirectional coverage.

The majority of the rubber is firm, with excellent groove spacing, save for the forefoot pod displaying tech, which is packed a little tighter in a transparent composition. This region not only accumulates more dust, but it is also more difficult to clean.

Cushion: 

Nike has done a lot with higher volume forefoot Zoom units recently, and that trend has carried over to this Jordan Brand sneaker.

Even if the shoe is a touch on the thick side, there is no padding in the back - my guess is that it is an injected Phylon. Fortunately, Jordan Brand placed those divots – or "Landing Zone" as they call them – beneath each heel to offer some compression and a small bounce back upon contact. Despite my suspicions that this section of the midsole was about to collapse, this modification saved the Jumpman 2020 from being a chore to wear.

Material: 

The mesh seems plasticky on the outside, but there has been no pain, pinching, or anything of the kind on foot. The textile inner most likely aids with this, while the remainder of the top is made up of synthetic leather overlays and skin fusion over the toe. Everything, even the strong nylon wires incorporated in the top, is lightweight, sturdy, and supportive, much like the Nike Zoom Rize. I believe the synthetic leather should have been scaled down a touch, but for $110 you get cost-effective materials that perform.

Fit: 

True to size works just well for me, and other broad footers may be able to get away with true to size as well, however a half size up may be more appropriate — you'll just have to decide for yourself. The lacing system allows for personalization at each pair of eyelets and performs well in terms of locking down.

If you've tried on its bigger sibling, the Air Jordan 34, anticipate the Jumpman 2020 to fit similarly but not quite as snugly.

Support: 

All of the typical factors lead to strong support for Jumpman 2020. It isn't a standout in its area, but I had no problems with support. The internal heel counter seems a touch weak, but a proper fit prevented any heel slide, and the materials don't appear substantial in the parts that need it, but are actually rather robust.

The nylon cabling down either side was my favorite part. They do a fantastic job of holding you in place on the footbed as part of the lacing system and top. This, along with the Jordan Jumpman 2020's semi-wide base, makes the Jordan Jumpman 2020 a breeze to play in.
